The Hunger Games is Suzanne Collins’s first novel of four in the series, set in Panem and starring Katniss Everdeen in a dystopian North America. The series includes Catching Fire, Mockingjay, and prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. After the success of the prequel movie released in 2023, an illustrated edition of the first Hunger Games novel has been announced.
In November 2023, Lionsgate released The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a prequel to the beloved series. The prequel follows a young President Snow, the villain of the original story, and his rise to power. The success of the film drew in even more new readers and watchers to the fandom. Now, Collins embarks on a mission to maintain the Hunger Games legacy with an illustrated edition of the first novel, coming this fall.
After the success of all the blockbuster movies years later, Scholastic announced the release of an illustrated edition of the first Hunger Games novel. Set to publish on October 1, 2024, this edition will include over 30 black-and-white drawings by Parisian artist Nico Delort.
Collins said in a statement:

Having sold over 100 million copies worldwide, the Hunger Games franchise is still flourishing, even 16 years later. The legacy of this dystopian novel continues on successfully and continuously brings in new loyal fans. Adding an illustrated edition to such a successful series is sure to keep things fresh.
