The wonderful Milly Alcock and Emily Carey took their final bows as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower this past Sunday on House of the Dragon. With actors Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke poised to take over the roles in the new episode this Sunday, we thought it would be a great time to take a look at the filmography of the fantastic cast of House of the Dragon.
Once you read this article, we’re positive you won’t be saying, “I know them from somewhere, I just can’t put my finger on it,” the next time you see these actors command the screen in House of the Dragon.
Emma D’Arcy
Before they grace our screens as a grown-up Rhaenyra Targaryen this Sunday, you can brush up on Emma D’Arcy’s filmography by watching them in the Amazon Original comedy series Truth Seekers. D’Arcy stars alongside actors Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. You can also see them in short films like O Holy Ghost and the BBC One miniseries Wanderlust.
Milly Alcock
We were sad to watch her take her final bow as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen this past Sunday, but have no fear! You can check out more of Milly Alcock’s work in the series Upright, or the miniseries Reckoning. You can also see her in the Starz original series The Gloaming, and Les Norton.
Olivia Cooke
Besides playing Alicent Hightower alongside Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cook is best known for her roles in The Sound of Metal, Apple TV+’s adaptation of Slow Horses, Ready Player One, and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. She was also a recurring character on the series Bates Motel and starred alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in Thoroughbreds.
Emily Carey
We’ll miss seeing Emily Carey shine as young a Alicent Hightower in House of the Dragon, but you can still see more of her work in Wonder Woman as a young Diana and Tomb Raider as a young Laura Croft! Also, take a peek at her work in The Lost Girls, where Game of Thrones alum Iain Glenn stars as well!
Paddy Considine
Paddy Considine’s acting credits range from the antagonistic Father John Hughes in the gritty series Peaky Blinders, to comedic roles alongside Simon Pegg in the films Hot Fuzz and The World’s End. He also played Claude Bolton in the HBO adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider and appeared in The Bourne Ultimatum.
Matt Smith
Before he was Prince Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon, we all knew Matt Smith as the loveable 11th Doctor in BBC’s Doctor Who. More recently, he’s been in films like Morbius (#ItsMorbinTime), Last Night in Soho, and played Charles Manson in 2018’s Charlie Says. And of course, fans know him from his Emmy-nominated performance as Prince Philip in Netflix’s The Crown.
Rhys Ifans
Rhys Ifans’ acting credits have touched quite a few major fandoms. Besides playing Otto Hightower in the Game of Thrones universe, he’s had a hand in a few other major productions. Eagle-eyed Harry Potter fans will recognize him as Xenophilius Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Pt. 1. He also played Dr. Kurt Connors in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home. But wait, there’s more! Ifans played Rasputin in The King’s Man and was in Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Steve Toussaint
Steve Toussaint, also known as the fierce Sea Snake, Corlys Velaryon, in House of the Dragon, is best known for his roles in Doctor Who, Line of Duty, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Turning the clocks back a bit, he was also in the original Judge Dredd film with Sylvester Stallone. He also appeared in a few episodes of CSI: Miami and Skins!
Eve Best
When she’s not slaying as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Eve Best was portraying Dr. Eleanor O’Hara in the Showtime series Nurse Jackie. You can also see her work in The King’s Speech and The Honorable Woman alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal. Dedicated Netflix viewers will also recognize Best from her role in Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga.
Fabien Frankel
Before he opened his big mouth to Alicent about sleeping with Rhaenyra, Ser Criston Cole actor Fabien Frankel was set to appear in the 2019 NYPD Blue reboot as Theo Sipowicz. Frankel has also had roles in The Serpent and Last Christmas (with Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke!).
