It’s like peeking into a time capsule of who we were over the past year, soundtracked by the tunes that carried us through life’s highs, lows, and everything in between. Kristi’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
Kristi has had a busy, stress-filled year, so the hard and heavy books were few and far between — but she still managed to read a whopping 153 books! Though she loves just about every genre out there, she’s a romance-girly at heart. And this year, she NEEDED the “happily ever afters,” those break-your-heart-and-then-mend-it-back-better-than-before books. That being said, her ADHD hyperfixation has been a real presence because she cannot seem to get enough of the Omegaverse romances. They keep writing them, and she keeps devouring them. The best part of her 2024 reading resume, though, was the new book club she started with her friends. The books have been great, but the connections and conversations have been even better. She’s looking forward to 2025, and so are we!
Quiarah Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
It was pretty much a fantasy-filled year for Quiarah. Always the fantasy femme at heart, she loves far-off, strange worlds and characters that could never — not ever in a million years — exist. But she also loves magical worlds that exist within our own, worlds that sit invisibly parallel to ours. She’s always willing to be taken somewhere, and this was a great year for that! From trying to save magic in Children of Virtue and Vengeance to traveling in a children’s car with a dog made of a clock and a humbug through strange lands in The Phantom Tollbooth, this was Quiarah’s fantasy year to remember, which was just what she needed to escape the year’s rough challenges and life’s potholes. She is thankful to the fantasy writers that have made her year better with their wonderfully delicious, over-the-top, amazingly whimsical worlds, characters, and plots, because they have been the ones keeping her sane and down-to-earth the whole time. Safe travels to your next far-off universe, Quiarah!
Gabriela’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
Gabriela considers herself to be a slow, multi-reader, meaning she reads at a slow pace that’s rendered slower by the multiple reads she juggles at one time. It was harder to keep up with that habit this year, and many of her 12+ completed books were actually started last year. But their impact still, easily enough, bled through to 2024. For Gabriela, there’s a lot to look back on, like her real-life Bookstr collaborations with amazing authors, like Ireen Chau and Chihiro Howe, and the plethora of manga series that continue to win her over, i.e.: Kindergarten Wars and Witch Watch. Even though her daily reading rate has slowed down, she still managed to find time to join a book club this year. Their top read was An Ember in the Ashes. They even collectively chose to keep reading that series well past its first installment, in addition to the monthly book picks, thus effectively feeding her multi-reads habit. The Bookstr team wonders if there’s an intervention in Gabriela’s future. Just kidding!
Caterina’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
It has been a very stressful year for Caterina too, but she learned a lot about herself and what she wants to achieve in her life. She’s glad that she had her books — respectably more than ten for 2024 and still climbing — during this difficult period, but she only wishes she had read more and wrote more reviews. So, this is going to be her priority for the new year, focusing more on the things that she loves, like reading and writing. We can’t wait to see what Caterina gets into next!
Amber’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
Amber’s bookish year was an extremely busy one! She finished her bachelor’s degree, worked in New York for the summer, moved countries, started her master’s program — and still found time to read 25 books! The titles she read this year helped her escape from those busy responsibilities in her life, which she truly appreciates. She tried to expand her horizons and read non-romance genres, and she feels she did an okay job at that. The biggest takeaways from her year of books: next year needs to be filled with even more variety, more time, and more love for the unread books waiting on her bookshelf. Good luck on that massive TBR, Amber!
Bryn’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
As a busy college student, Bryn admits she had somewhat of a reading dry spell these past few years, but downloading Libby earlier this year and getting the chance to listen to books in her free time was life-changing for her. In 2024, she completed over 15 titles and learned that she loves autobiographies and historical fiction more than she realized. For her, the idea that these books were based on true stories that come from the heart motivated her to read more than ever before. A highlight for her was getting to hear stories about finding hope amid hardship from real and fictional people alike. She currently has a few books on hold for 2025 — including The Great Alone, To Kill a Mockingbird, A Little Life, and Blood Brothers — and she’s looking forward to discovering more stories and genres to fill in the rest of next year. We at Bookstr wonder what rabbit holes Bryn will fall into!
Ali’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
For Ali, it has certainly been a crazy time, but despite her extremely busy schedule, she always found time to read — totally over 100 reads for 2024! On especially crazy days, she settles down before bed with a good book to take her mind off it all. It’s the only way she can fall asleep! That being said, there were a lot of rereads of her favorites this year, because sometimes a comfort read is what Ali really needed. She reads a mixture of everything, but romance is probably the genre that she comes back to the most. After all, it’s the romcoms that kept her laughing and had a good ending that got her through 2024! Happy reading, Ali!
Melissa’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
Even with quite a few dry spells in 2024, Melissa still managed to read over 60 books, crediting her top books as the heroes that pulled her out of every slump. For the first time, she tapped hard into the thriller genre, and she’s excited to see where that leads her next year. Despite the slow periods, this year was the most she’s ever read — so far! Choosing a top genre was extremely hard for her, but the completed book list cannot tell a lie! And going off all the books she’s read, it’s no fib that romance-fantasy comes out on top, with romcoms being a safe second close behind. For 2025, she wants to try audiobooks and watch those completed read numbers rise! Happy listening, Melissa!
Lauren’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
2024 was a fantastic reading year for Lauren, totaling 35 reads! There were a couple of books she struggled to get through, but for the most part, she enjoyed everything she picked up. Though the science fiction and thriller genres will always have the penthouse in her heart, she’s an eclectic reader and found new titles to love in every category, from literary fiction to narrative journalism to historical fantasy. She even discovered some new favorite authors — Andrew Joseph White and Everina Maxwell among them — and quickly binged their entire catalog of work. Now, she not-so-patiently awaits their next releases, which are sure to make it to her top reads of 2025! Hang in there, Lauren!
Monica’s Bookify Wrapped Synopsis
Like all of us here at Bookstr, 2024 was also a very busy year for Monica, especially when it comes to books. She spent her spring finishing the second half of her master’s in English literature. This semester included World Literature and her thesis course, so her range of authors was very international, to include Heat and Dust by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, A Distant Shore by Caryl Phillips, and The Translator by Leila Aboulela. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood was also assigned and served as a good reread in light of the current political atmosphere in the US. After finishing her degree, Monica spent her summer enjoying some fun reads. And 2024 marks the year she discovered the app Libby and finally connected to her hometown library, which contributed to the boost in her reading progress. We can’t wait to see her total numbers in 2025!
