Why did you start your Bookstagram? What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?

I started Bookstagram because I wanted to talk about the books that I have read and meet people with a shared love of books. I also want to work in social media or in publishing someday, so already having a platform would give me a leg up during interviews! I want people to find more niche recs than what is heavily marketed on social media, so my account is a great place to start!

Where are you from?

Arizona!

Fun Fact about you:

I am bilingual in French and English!

Favorite Bookstagrammers:

Favorite Books and Authors:

Standalones — A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid, Thin Places by Kerri Ní Docartaigh

Series — The Legendborn Cycle by Tracy Deonn

Authors — V.E. Schwab

Solenn smiles as she poses for a selfie with a copy of Oathbound by Tracey Deonn, the cover of which features a Black woman with loose curly hair with swirls of magic around her hands and body with a hooded figure lurking behind her.

What’s a book on your TBR you’ve been putting off reading, and why?

The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynne Barnes — I wanted to get into the series, but I never really fell in love with it. I don’t want to leave it unfinished, but I’ve been putting off continuing.

Name a popular author/book/book series that you haven’t read yet but want to?

Samantha Shannon — I’ve heard incredible things about Priory of the Orange Tree, but it’s such a huge book, I’m scared to start and not have enough time!

Name a publisher/publishing company that never misses with their new releases?

HarperCollins — I need to stop buying every new release they post! And their marketing is on point.

What’s Your Special Approach to Content?

I mix up reels with graphics and photos! I also include lifestyle content, not just books.

Aesthetic / Instagram page theme:

Boho, Clean Girl

What does your Bookstagram mean to you?

It’s a fun hobby for me to experiment with different trends and types of content! It’s also a community that offers tons of new book recs and helps me find a platform for my writing!

Inside a bookstore, yellow lights hang from the ceiling, and a large window sits at the back. Bookshelves are at the edges of the photo, and there are tables full of books and bookish items. A rack of shirts and tote bags sits underneath the window.

Penguin Random House for sure! They have so many awesome titles.

The cover of All The Light We Cannot See — Saint Malo is a special place to my family, and I love the rendition of it.

On a picnic blanket in the grass sits a bowl of food, a black plastic fork, and a copy of When I Was the Wind by Hannah Lee Jones, whose cover features a blue watercolor painting of birds. Next to the blanket is an iced drink.

What are your favorite creative avenues to explore when putting together a post for your page, and why?

I love toying around on Canva and seeing what I can layer and mix and match! It’s a fun game and I’ve learned some cool tricks.

What do you like most about Bookstagram?

Everyone is so supportive!! I love reading comments and seeing the different recommendations people post.

What’s a memorable or favorite interaction you’ve had with an author or follower?

Tracy Deonn reposted my high school AP Lit project on X! It was about Legendborn, and I thought I was going to die.

Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:

Just post what you want — take inspiration from others or do your own thing! And post when you want — you don’t have to post multiple times a day or daily. Don’t make it a chore.
