Emma
If you’re just joining us for BotW for the first time, here’s everything you need to know. We scour Instagram for the best Bookstagrammers, interview them about their life and their love of books, and bring it all to you every week! This week we’ve been interviewing Emma with @ekhnreads so let’s see what she has to say!
It’s obvious reading is a passion of yours, and we’re curious—when did you first get into reading?
I think it was reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants as a child that made me discover how much I love reading.
Where are you from? Do you have a favorite bookstore close to home?
I’m from Sweden, I have a favorite antique bookshop that I visit regularly to browse for old books. I also often thrift books online.
As a bookworm, you have read a lot of books, and we’re curious; what is one book you would recommend everyone read?
I’ll never stop recommending Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. It’s a heartwarming book about changing your habits and trying to navigate the world when you’re a bit different from everyone else.
YES! We love this! I mean, how can we as a society grow if we don’t experience what others who are outside the “norm” experience? This is so important not only as a society but for those people to be welcomed as they should be!
I feel like I already know the answer to this based on your last answer, but we’ve got to know for sure. Which fictional character do you feel most connected to, and why?
It would probably be Eleanor Oliphant; I relate to the comfort she feels in the solitude of her home.
Your Bookstagram feed is beautiful! The blacks, greys, and whites really just hit home for me. Not to mention the antique memorabilia and the hung photos you often feature.
What is your special approach to making such beautiful content?
I take a lot of photos in my home; often, it’s just capturing moments from everyday life. I want my photos to convey a cozy feeling and hopefully inspire you to read.
Your outdoor photos with all the fall leaves are so cozy. They make me want to curl up in my reading chair and stay there all day with a new book. So, of course, we’ve got a seasonal question that involves one of your favorite genres.
If you were to go on an autumnal, mysterious adventure, which three fictional characters from dark academia stories would you want to accompany you?
I’d go on an adventure to the dark forest with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Me too, but can we bring Fluffy along, as well!?
In one of your recent posts, you said that you have been obsessed with short stories. What is a short story that you have enjoyed recently?
Recently I’ve been reading books by Annie Ernaux, “Happening” was a short but amazing read.
What is one thing your Bookstagram has taught you?
Quality over quantity. It’s not important how many books I read. It’s more important that I enjoy the ones I do read. I’ve also met so many wonderful people through Bookstagram that I’m happy to call my friends!
Well, that wraps it up for this week, folks! Thanks for hanging out with me and Emma from @ekhnreads; we’ll see you next week with a new BotW!
