Amazon gave us The Peripheral in October 2022, and I know I definitely haven’t been the same since. Luckily, the platform announced the show’s renewal for Season 2. The show is based on William Gibson’s 2014 novel of the same name. Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming season of Prime’s new hit series.
The Peripheral Season 2
While it is unknown exactly when Season 2 could begin filming, Comicbook reports it could potentially begin shooting later this year. Since premiering in October 2022 and concluding in December of the same year with an eight-episode run, the show made Nielsen’s top 10 streaming chart during the premiere of its finale.
Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan said an early goodbye to HBO’s Westworld last year, but are working on multiple series with Amazon, including a film adaptation of the best-selling video game Fallout.
The show follows Flynne Fisher (Chloë Grace Moretz) as she tries to hold together her broken family in a very rural America. Alongside Moretz is Jack Reynor, Gary Carr, Eli Goree, Louis Herthum, JJ Field, T’Nia Miller, Charlotte Riley, Alexandra Billings, and many others. This show is packed with talent, and we are eager to see what the cast of Season 2 brings.
The Jackpot Trilogy by William Gibson
It wouldn’t be Bookstr without all the bookish facts, right? The Peripheral is book one of three in The Jackpot Trilogy. The first book published in 2014, while the second book, Agency, released in 2020. As of now, the third book in the trilogy hasn’t released. I did some digging for you, though– The third and final book in Gibson’s trilogy, Jackpot, is still in the works. Can’t wait for Season 2 to come out? Try starting the books!
“William Gibson’s science fiction is so eerily prophetic that sometimes it seems as if he’s creating the future, not just imagining it.”—The New York Times
This intense sci-fi thriller series gives you a terrifying look into the future. Follow the life of Flynne Fisher, who lives on a country road in a rural America. Jobs are scarce unless you factor in the illegal drug manufacture (Don’t worry, she avoids this). Burton, her brother, lives off income from the Veterans Administration after suffering neurological damage in the Marines.
Seventy years or so later, Wilf Netherton lives in London on the latter side of the apocalypse. Wilf is a high-powered publicist and celebrity-minder. He also thinks he’s a bit of a romantic misfit.
Flynne and Wilf are about to meet one another, and their world will never be the same again.
