8 Quotes From ‘The Lost Hero’ That I Will Never Let Die

‘The Lost Hero’ by Rick Riordan has now been out in the world for twelve years. But even now, there are some quotes that I’m just not willing to let die.

Here are eight quotes from The Lost Hero, the book that began The Heroes of Olympus series, that are still worth talking about.

1. Venti

“Can we just call them storm spirits?” Leo asked. “Venti makes them sound like evil espresso drinks.”

Leo Valdez

In my opinion, Leo Valdez is one of the best comic relief characters in the entire series. While there is certainly so much more depth to his character than just his jokes, he certainly makes the series better with his hilariously witty remarks.

2. Gaea

“Gaea?” Leo shook his head. “Isn’t that Mother Nature? She’s supposed to have, like, flowers in her hair and birds singing around her and deer and rabbits doing her laundry.”

“Leo, that’s Snow White,” Piper said.”

Gaea is the Greek primordial goddess of the Earth. Not to be confused with Snow White, a fourteen-year-old girl who sings to animals and bakes gooseberry pies for The Seven Dwarfs.

3. Suffering

“It’ll be dangerous,” Nyssa warned him. “Hardship, monsters, terrible suffering. Possibly none of you will come back alive.”

“Oh.” Suddenly Leo didn’t look so excited. Then he remembered everyone was watching. “I mean… Oh, cool! Suffering? I love suffering! Let’s do this.”

I mean, who doesn’t love some good old-fashioned suffering?

4. Your Own Path

“You must forge your own path for it to mean anything.”

Hera

These are wise words to Jason Grace from Hera, the goddess of women, marriage, childbirth, and hating Percy Jackson.

5. Not Good With Children

“I’m not good with children,” the god confessed. “Or people. Well, any organic life forms, really.”

Hephaestus

Honestly, same Hephaestus, same.

6. Drew

“Oh, and Drew, honey?” The former counselor looked back reluctantly. “In case you think I’m not a true daughter of Aphrodite,” Piper said, “don’t even look at Jason Grace. He may not know it yet, but he’s mine. If you even try to make a move, I will load you into a catapult and shoot you across Long Island Sound.”

Piper McLean

We love a confident girl who stands up for herself and marks her territory with her man!

7. Zeus

“Zeus looked like a really buff, really angry hippie.”

Sounds dreamy.

8. Love Is Power

“My point is that love is the most powerful motivator in the world. It spurs mortals to greatness. Their noblest, bravest acts are done for love.”

Aphrodite

Villains try to claim that love is a weakness, but it is just the opposite. Love is the most powerful motivator in the world to those who have it.

There are so many more amazing quotes from The Lost Hero, but these eight especially deserve recognition.
