Jason Grace is considered the Roman Percy Jackson, and throughout the Heroes of Olympus series, he proves that over and over again. But, Jason also proves to be a loyal, trustworthy friend and a shoulder to lean on when needed. The son of Jupiter deserves the world, and I could not be more excited to urge everyone to help us at Bookstr celebrate the demigod’s birthday!
1. Jason Loves The Greeks
“‘Greeks!” Percy yelled. “Let’s, um, fight stuff!’ They yelled like banshees and charged.
Jason grinned. He loved the Greeks. They had no organization whatsoever, but they made up for it with enthusiasm.”Jason Grace, The Blood of Olympus
Raw enthusiasm is just what you need in battle and according to Jason, the Greeks have more than enough.
2. Dealing In Myths
“‘Atlantis?’ Jason asked.
‘That’s a myth,’ Percy said.
‘Uh, don’t we deal in myths?’
‘No, I mean it’s a made-up myth. Not like, an actual true myth.’
‘So this is why Annabeth is the brains of the operation, huh?'”Jason Grace, The Blood of Olympus
Annabeth can do no wrong.
3. Jason And Nico, Part One
“‘Thats–thats fantastic! Dude!’ Jason opened his arms for a hug, then froze. ‘Right. No touching. Sorry.’
Nico grunted. ‘I suppose we can make an exception.’ Jason squeezed him so hard Nico thought his ribs would crack.'”Nico de Angelo, The Blood of Olympus
We support a powerful demigod who respects the boundaries of his friends!
4. Jason And Nico, Part Two
“‘Nico,’ he said gently, ‘I’ve seen a lot of brave things. But what you did? That was maybe the bravest.'”Jason Grace, The House of Hades
Jason was always a supportive friend and the way he supported Nico (and Leo) in their times of hardship always stood out to me as a reader.
5. Coach Hedge Plays Eisenhower
“‘Now–what’s our game plan?’
‘Climb the mountain,’ Hedge said. ‘Kill everything except Piper’s dad. Leave.’
‘Thank you, General Eisenhower,’ Jason grumbles.”Jason Grace, The Lost Hero
Coach Hedge was always such an intriguing character. And I mean, his strategy? Not wrong, but could be tweaked a little.
6. Underground? No.
“Nico drew his sword. His smile was even more unsettling than his scowl.
‘Underground,’ he said. ‘My favorite place.’
Underground was not Jason’s favorite place.”Jason & Nico, The House of Hades
I mean, everyone has a fear of something. I can understand the child of the god of the sky having a fear of the underground.
7. Who Doesn’t Love A Cheesy Greeting Card? Apparently Jason.
“‘Love is on every side, Cupid said. ‘And no one’s side. Don’t ask what Love can do for you.’
‘Great,’ Jason said. ‘Now he’s spouting greeting card messages.'”Jason Grace, The House of Hades
I don’t know about you but cheesy greeting cards are everything. Maybe Jason just hasn’t found the right one.
Jason Grace is a spectacle and an incredible one. He is the character who made me fall in love with reading and for that, he will always hold a special place in my heart–him and The Seven. So, let’s give another round of cheers to the birthday boy! Happy birthday Jason!
