We here at Bookstr are starting a zodiac series in which we will recommend and share zodiac book recs and other bookish content. Today we’re suggesting ten books you may want to read if you are a Scorpio!
Ah, Scorpios. You gotta love them. They are mysterious, sexy, have a dark sense of humor, and are extremely passionate. They are also a secret softy (sorry, cat’s out of the bag), and at times it feels like they might hate you, but in reality, they hate themselves. Nevertheless, Scorpios are the sweetest signs you’ll ever meet (again, sorry for spilling facts!).
Here are some mysterious, alluring, dark, and Scorpio-esque books you should read right now!
We’re starting our list with a classic! Read this tragic love story between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Heathcliff embodies a Scorpio— slick, reserved, passionately in love, and willing to wreck it all. He becomes obsessed with vengeance after Catherine is married to another man. Darkness invades his spirits and wrecks the world around him.
Scorpios will eat this book up for two main reasons. One: Relating to Heathcliff. He’s the villain of his own story, and if Scorpios know one thing, they are their biggest hater! Two: The heartbreak. Everyone loves a little hurt, especially during the autumn nights of November.
2. Mystic River
If you’re Scorpio, you love a well-fleshed, heart-wrenching mystery, and Mystic River is the one for you.
Sean Devine, Jimmy Marcus, and Dave Boyle were once best friends, but everything changed when one of the boys left the three-man group. Twenty-five years go by, and Sean is now a homicide detective, while Jimmy is an ex-criminal trying to get his life straight by owning a corner store. And Dave is trying to keep his marriage afloat while maintaining his declining mental health. His mind begs him to do evil things.
When Jimmy’s daughter is unexpectedly found dead, Sean is assigned to the case, but within Jimmy’s rage, he wants to solve it with revenge rather than justice, so he decides to go back into his old ways. Dave is the one everyone needs to worry about. He’s the one covered in blood the night Jimmy’s daughter was murdered. The passion for love, family, and loyalty are tested in this one. Bring tissues for the tears!
If anyone could relate to an outcast, it would be a Scorpio.
In a world of Gods, Helio and Perse give birth to a daughter. Circe is not like their other children– and not in a good way. She’s not powerful like her father nor cunning like her mother. Feeling like an outcast, she turns to mortals for friendships, and doing so causes her to discover she does, in fact, have power. Witchfact. With this magic, she can make her enemies turn into monsters.
When Zeus discovers her new renowned gifts, he banishes her to a deserted island. On this island, Circe crosses paths with many different mythical legends, such as Minotaur, Daedalus, Icarus, Medea, and Odysseus. Instead of wallowing in her sorrows, she practices her magical skills. Will she survive her time on the island and reunite with the Gods, or will she want to stay with the humans she has come to love?
If you are a Scorpio, you’re not going to want to put this book down, as it holds suspenseful tragedies and triumphs!
Want an angsty story? If anyone is an angst Queen/King, it’s our fellow Scorpio!
When Oliver Marks is released from jail, the man who landed him there is waiting for him. Detective Colborne wants the truth, and Oliver is ready to admit it this time.
Ten years earlier, Oliver was one out of seven young actors at Dellecher Classical Conservatory. The students aspire to be young Shakespearean- abiding by the roles of hero, villain, tyrant, temptress, ingénue, and extras. By the fourth year of being there, the rivalry among the actors takes a turn for the worst. Acting and reacting blend together. These young actors must convince everyone around them they are innocent of a murder at the Conservatory. Scorpios love a little ambiguity and enough room to think, but this whodunit will leave you staying up at night.
We got another mind-bending page-turner, but love and mystery hold hands this time, and Scorpios love love and LOVE being mysterious!
Jack and Kate meet at a party, and sparks fly! Sounds innocent, right? Until Kate dies.
Instead of their love story simply ending, Jack is brought back to the past when they first met. He can prevent her death, but it’s not without consequences. Another loved one dies in place. What can he do to stop people around him from dying? Scorpios are intense lovers, so I don’t know if they would handle seeing every person they ever care about die. Live through Jack instead to know the outcome!
What Scorpios are going to love is the story’s atmosphere. There is something going on in the woods, and it’s not of this world.
Deep in the forest outside Dunhammond Conserty, there lives a mystical beast called the Felix. Sing da Naveli pays no mind to the legend, focusing on her passion– music. She’s a daughter’s prodigy, but she wants to prove to everyone that she has talent in her own right, not just by relation to a renowned artist.
It doesn’t help she’s cast as an understudy of her favorite opera, Angelique. Sing decides to journey into the forest like the composer who wrote Angelique to better her singing abilities and possibly snatch the leading role. This composer claims there was magic in these woods. Was he right? Sing works with the mysterious Apprentice Nathan Daysmoor, her vocal coach. Little does she know, he has sacred secrets that may have something to do with the forest outside Dunhammond…
Now… I know… we were on a trend of mystery thrillers because Scorpios are all about that, but as I said from the beginning, Scorpios are secret softies, so they’re going to love the graphic series, Heartstopper.
Meet Charlie, a soft, shy, openly gay boy at an all-boys school. When he meets Nick, love is in the air. The problem is he doesn’t think Nick is gay. He still wants to maintain a friendship with the lad, but will he fall in way too deep where heartbreak will surely take over? Better yet, will Nick begin to see Charlie differently?
Let’s get spicy here! Scorpios, by nature, are sexual beings– arguably the most sexual out of the zodiac sign.
Suzie and Jon realize that whenever they have sex, time freezes together, so they begin to commit burglary. What Suzie doesn’t know is Jon has baggage spouting from the surface. Meanwhile, Sex Cops are after them. Wait, sex cops are a thing?
Poetry is a door to the soul. And if you know any Scorpio… you should know they are passionate AF!
Passion, hurt, and love crumbles together in this poetry collection. Sophie Elaine Hansen will make you feel her pain. Scorpios, please take a peek at this magnificent piece of art.
You can’t leave without a book about Scorpios. Finding happiness in a gray-presenting world can be challenging, but never fear. This book will guide you on how to maintain your livelihood while us uncovering things you never knew about yourself.
You don’t have to be a Scorpio to read any of these, but Scorpios will take a particular liking to these dark thematic reads. Which one are you picking out this season?
