The highly anticipated Harry Potter video game, ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ was supposed to be released this year but now it’s been pushed back to 2022. The game is a open world action game set in the 1800s. Way before anything exciting happened at Hogwarts. It’s a weird time period to set the game, but it could be cool depending on what they do with it.
In 2018, videos of a new Harry Potter console game started circulating online. Two years later, Hogwarts Legacy is officially introduced to the world. The game is set at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the late 1800s. Players can explore the open world game by taking the role of a student and creating a new story that can involve dangerous journeys to uncover the hidden truth of the wizarding world. The official trailer shows stunning imagery for the game.
Players will be able to grow their characters abilities, embark on choice-driven missions, cast charms, duel with offensive spells, and so much more! Users can also travel to other locations such as: Hogsmeade Village and the Forbidden Forest. Sony’s Playstation 5 presented the news that the open-world, single-player role-playing game will be released in 2021 on PS5, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, and PC.

It is a dream come true for fans of Game of Thrones and video games! George R.R. Martin and FromSoftware, an acclaimed video game developer who has created games such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice are teaming up to create an original video game title! The game, according to Forbes, debuted on June 9th at Microsoft’s press conference, debuting in a frankly epic looking teaser trailer. It’s pretty vague, with little to none of the story actually revealed but the imagery is nonetheless extremely striking. The trailer showcases a man hammering on a magic ring, shattering it into pieces, as beautifully designed fantasy characters populate a blasted and ruined landscape. The sky is burning. A man is wrapped in dozens of disembodied arms. It looks surreal, weird, and utterly striking at the same time.

According to ComicBook Hidetaka Miyazaki, the direct of Elden Ring, spoke to Xbox Wire about the project. He revealed he and his studio were a huge fan of George R.R. Martin’s work. They expected to be shot down when he reached out to Martin to collaborate but Martin accommodated his request to speak and signed onto Elden Ring. The two of them hashed out the game’s world, with Martin himself having been revealed to work on the ‘overarching mythos’ and lore of the game’s complicated history. Knowing his skill for world building and narrative development, this is a very cool reveal. Miyazaki himself described Martin’s world as thus:
“…Full of interesting characters and drama. It’s also packed with mystical and mysterious elements. Elden Ring’s world was constructed using this mythos and stimulus as a base. Even I myself find it hard to contain my excitement from time to time. We hope that everyone else is looking forward to the world we have created.”
The game doesn’t have a release date yet but it is scheduled to be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. We can’t wait to see the new world George R.R. Martin has helped create! Are you excited?
