Grammy winning musician and Academy Award nominated actress Queen Latifah is joining the adaptation of a beloved children’s book.
The Tiger Rising is a 2001 novel about a twelve-year-old boy named Rob who discovers a tiger locked in a cage in the woods. When Rob releases the tiger from the cage, he must make a choice to keep the tiger or let it go free into the woods. The novel also deals with family issues, as Rob and his father must confront their strained relationship when the tiger arrives.
Deadline reported that Latifah will both star in and executive produce the film. Latifah will play Willie May, the housekeeper of a local inn who gives advice to Rob throughout the story.
