Roxane Gay is the bold, Black, feminist auntie you never had. This New York Times bestselling author, speaker, and Twitter phenom is here to take names and kick ass (at Scrabble).
The press will publish 3 titles a year from a mix of fiction, nonfiction and memoir genres with a focus on underrepresented voices. This is not Gay’s first time publishing books, however. She’s had some previous experience—although on a very small scale—as she founded Tiny Hardcore Press in 2011, which put out 25 to 50 copies of each title publishing along with e-books.
Grove also said that it plans to offer a paid, one-year fellowship program that would serve as a crash course in publishing, for applicants without access to such jobs through traditional pathways.
