Gossip Girl 2.0 is making a comeback with the release of a production date.
Hey Upper East Siders, you'll never guess who was #spotted as the newest face on board for the HBO Max reboot of everyone's favorite show.
Hold onto your hats, nineties fans. This is a wild one. Remember Barney the Dinosaur? That cuddly, cute dinosaur who you probably haven’t given a second thought to beyond nostalgia. Well, Barney is coming back with a vengeance! According to Hypebeast Barney the Dinosaur is the latest property to be given the green light for a live action film. The purple T Rex is coming to the big screen, with Get Out and Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya set to produce the film through his company 59%.
In collaboration with Mattel, 59% is all set to give Barney his new lease on life. On the film, Kaluuya was quoted saying:
Barney was a ubiquitous figure in many of our childhoods, then he disappeared into the shadows, left misunderstood. We’re excited to explore this compelling modern-day hero and see if his message of ‘I love you, you love me’ can stand the test of time.
Mattel said this new film will be something of a new spin on the old show, giving Barney a reboot for the new generation. On the project, Mattel said:
Working with Daniel Kaluuya will enable us to take a completely new approach to Barney that will surprise audiences and subvert expectations. The project will speak to the nostalgia of the brand in a way that will resonate with adults, while entertaining today’s kids.
It’ll be interesting to see what they mean by all this. Will Barney be given a gritty, realistic take or show up as the same old lovable dinosaur he’s always been? We’ll have to see in 2020, but what do you think of this admittedly odd project?

It has been announced that another Clueless reboot will grace our presence. Paramount Studios is planning another film and be more modern as it is set in 2020.
As we know the original movie had ties to the Jane Austen novel, Emma. But the reboot will more focused on Cher’s bestie, Dionne. There is also talks of another Clueless television series
I have hope for these reboots but of course I am skeptical. Paramount aired the reboot ‘Heathers’ and needless to say, it did not go well. Much like ‘Heathers, Clueless is a product of its time. Clueless is the definition of the nineties and it will be difficult to translate. The more modern the filmmakers make it the better. Both Heathers and Clueless draws fine lines when it comes to humor and cheesiness and it strikes a good balance.
Let’s hope they can reach the same balance in the new reboots.
