The classic animated movie is well loved amongst Disney fans, so everyone is waiting on edge to see the live action verision of the film. According to co-chairman and chief creative officer at Walt Disney Studios, Alan Horn, he states that the pandemic has not changed the message of the movie, which is about hope and perserverance. If you haven’t seen the movie, then you don’t know that it’s about a young chinese women who goes to war in her father’s place, undercover as a man because she wants to prove who she really is and not who her family wants her to be. It’s a powerful movie with a power ballad, Reflection, that sets the tone for the movie. Horn, also states that they will continue to make accomendations to the release as the conditions require.

Alan Bergman, another chairman at Walt Disney studios, states that the film was meant to be on the big screen. He commended the cast and director Niki Caro for creating an epic film and how it’s for audiences around the globe to enjoy and experience together.

The movie is going to be epic, and Mulan is such an inspiring character, and definitely one to admire. She isn’t your average Disney heroine in the slightest and she sets the bar high for girl power in the Disney universe. So, I have no doubt how amazing this film is.

Three Great Books to Read during Quarantine

While in quarantine, one of the best things to do is open a book. There are so many great ones out there, and while having this time to stay at home, I’ve managed to cross some books off my TBR list and I even discovered some new ones. Out of all the books I’ve read since this pandemic started, there are three that are simply too good not to pass on to others.

1. ‘Dangerous Alliance’ by Jennieke Cohen

Dangerous Alliance is a historical fiction romance, and it’s such a great story. The novel follows a young woman, Lady Victoria, who has to quickly find a husband to protect her family’s estate from her older sister’s abusive fiancé. What I love most about this book is how much of a book worm Lady Victoria is, and how she uses the characters from Jane Austen novels to help her find a decent husband. There is also a little mystery in this novel with an old friend of Victoria’s that comes back into her life, Tom. The novel is also told from his perspective as he’s trying to open a hotel while protecting Victoria from Mr. Carmichael, who he believes is conspiring with Victoria’s sister’s husband. Even though Victoria is looking for a husband, she has a good head on her shoulders and will do anything to protect her sister, despite the weird occurrences happening around her (like the man attacking her on her estate, or the carriage losing control while on a date with another suitor, Mr. Silby). The mystery is, what does Mr. Carmichael want, and who keeps trying to harm Victoria? This book is bound to keep you invested in these kooky characters and mysterious story!

2. ‘Regretting You’ by Colleen Hoover

Regretting You is a contemporary fiction novel that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on, as I am a big Colleen Hoover fan. She rarely disappoints. This book features a dual perspective story about a mother, Morgan, and her daughter, Clara, who are dealing with grief and a shocking revelation. Morgan just lost her husband and her sister in a car accident, and she also put the pieces together and discovered a big secret that’s been hidden for years. On top of that, she is fighting with Clara, who is choosing now to rebel. Clara just wants to escape and not think about the death of her dad and aunt, both of whom she was so close to. She wants to make sense of the world and right now the only thing that is helping her deal is the boy her mom won’t let her see because he’s a bad influence. What I love about this novel is the family element, and how much you think you know someone when you don’t. Life is full of surprises, and not always good ones. The characters are going through a lot, a perfect distraction from our own current issues!

3. ‘Chain of Gold’ by Cassandra Clare

Chain of Gold is a new fantasy novel by Cassandra Clare, need I say more? I am a big Cassandra Clare fan, so of course, I had to read this. If you’ve read The Infernal Devices trilogy, then you will recognize Will, Tessa, and Jem in this novel; now all grown-up with Will and Tessa being married with kids of their own. Their children, James and Lucie, are the focal point of this novel along with their friends. James is in love with Grace Blackthorn, who is kept hidden by her mother because of her hatred towards shadow hunters, specifically the Herondales. Lucie’s best friend Cordelia Castairs is doing her best to save her family name, all while something dark threatens the lives of the shadow hunters and James, Lucie, and the rest of their friends and family try to stop it. I love reading about this world, and how each new book takes us on a journey with great characters and a wild plot. Cassandra Clare never ceases to amaze me when it comes to her books.

Hopefully, these picks will distract you from the chaos of the world right now and bring you into a different kind of chaos, someone else’s!
