Rumors Swirl About A “Game of Thrones” Season Finale Redo

Let me emphasize right now: this is a rumor. Do I hope it is more than that? Absolutely.

New York Post writer Hannah Frishberg released an article this last week drawing attention to the ambiguous tweet posted by HBO’s official twitter page. The tweet simply said: “Winter is coming”–which is the Stark family motto in the series, and it now echoes as one of the most famous lines attached to a fantasy series.

This tweet has been met with mixed responses. Some fans are demanding an apology for the original episode that was aired, while others are arguing that the damage has been done and there is no point in trying to make any changes now. However, there are plenty of fans who are also hopeful that this could be the second chance that the show needs to get the finale right. There were plenty of fans, after all, who signed the petition for HBO to rewrite and refilm the ending, so to some, this tweet may be the answer that they have been looking for.

However, with all this being said, fans should also note that there are at least two Game of Thrones prequels in the works right now–one that is based off of George R.R. Martin’s historical chronicle of the Targaryen family, Fire & Blood, and the series of novellas that Martin wrote following Aegon Targaryen and the hedge knight Duncan, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

So fans will have to bide their time for the moment until HBO clarifies what they meant with this tweet.
