Stephen King Takes to Twitter With Some Thoughts on ‘You’

The Netflix/Lifetime show You, an adaptation of the novel of the same name, has been a controversial one.  While receiving critical acclaim, including a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, rave reviews, and a reneweal for a second season,  the show, has garnered criticism for what some view as its overly sympathetic portrait of the show’s protagonist and narrator, Joe Goldberg, portrayed by Penn Badgley.  Despite Badgley’s character engaging in stalking and eventually murder, the character sparked considerable sympathy from fans of the show, a lot more than perhaps the creators intended, despite his horrific and creepy actions throughout the season.

The latest opinion on the series comes from the King of Horror himself, Stephen King, who tweeted his thoughts on the series. The tweet can be seen seen below:

It is clear that King, like so many others,  enjoyed the adaptation and considered it an ‘interesting’ counter to the book. He seems to praise Joe in particular as a fascinating character, considering the two sides to his personality depending on who he interacts with. It would be great to get King’s opinion in the form of a longer piece but considering his writing schedule, we doubt he has any time.

What do you think of You? Do you agree with King’s opinion? What do you think of the adaptation and the novel? Tell us!

You Season 2 Hints

Season 2 of ‘You’ Gives Joe Another Chance at Love

The second season of You, the adaptation of Caroline Kepnes’ novel of the same name, is coming soon to Netflix! The season one finale had us all on the edge of our seats, and we simply cannot wait to see how it plays out.

This is what we know so far about season two. First off, It will be based on Hidden Bodies, Kepnes’ follow-up to You, (so if you haven’t read the sequel yet, now’s your chance) and will continue to feature Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg. And, though things didn’t exactly work out with Beck (eek) he won’t stay single for long.

The show will be set in Los Angeles and is currently in the casting process. Best of all, we now know the name of Joe’s next love interest… Love.

No, really! Victoria Pedretti will play Love Quinn, a true L.A. gal and aspiring chef. She’ll be just the person to help Joe adjust to the big move… and might get a little too close for her own good. Like Beck, Love has recently experienced a shattering loss. Unlike Beck, Joe wasn’t the cause of said loss.

Showrunner Sera Gamble reassures viewers that season two won’t repeat the first season’s plot in an interview with EW:

Season 1 was a particular kind of story that we could tell about the relationship between Joe and Beck and the moment that we did what we did in the finale, that’s not repeatable. I will say that Love is a person he could only have met after what happened between him and Beck. And by the way, Joe is not out there looking for love. He’s truly heartbroken by what has happened, and so what Love offers is a different kind of friendship and a different kind of relationship.

How different will Joe Goldberg really be, though? Even Penn Badgley likes to remind viewers that Joe is absolutely not someone to admire. But for better or worse, he definitely has us hooked and ready to see more of You!
