These Are the Most Highlighted Passages From Harry Potter, According to Data

If there is one thing Harry Potter is known for, it is the beautiful and inspirational quotes that will make you laugh, cry, and curse J.K. Rowling for her hold on your emotions. Potterheads know that the series is full of quotes you want to hold on to, but some stand out more than others.

Amazon’s recently released reading report for 2017 determined the most highlighted passage in each Harry Potter book that readers didn’t want to forget, based on data from the English Kindle editions of each story. Click here to view the top highlighted passage in non-english editions!

1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

The Winner…

“After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.” – Albus Dumbledore

2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

The Winner…

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” – Albus Dumbledore

3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

The Winner…

“Non-magic people (more commonly known as Muggles) were particularly afraid of magic in medieval times, but not very good at recognizing it. On the rare occasion that they did catch a real witch or wizard, burning had no effect whatsoever. The witch or wizard would perform a basic Flame Freezing Charm and then pretend to shriek with pain while enjoying a gentle, tickling sensation. Indeed, Wendelin the Weird enjoyed being burned so much that she allowed herself to be caught no less than forty seven times in various disguises.”

4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

The Winner…

“Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.” – Albus Dumbledore

5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

The Winner…

“Youth cannot know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young…” – Albus Dumbledore

6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

The Winner…

“It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more.” – Albus Dumbledore

7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The Winner…

“Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love.” – Albus Dumbledore

Fans holding stacks of The Deathly Hallows

Happy 10th Birthday, Deathly Hallows!

We can’t believe it’s been ten whole years, a decade, a tenth of a century, the average lifespan of a wild deer, since the final installment of J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter series hit shelves, broke hearts, and affirmed lives all over the planet.

Fans around the world gathered at midnight for the book’s release on this day in 2007, awaiting what was thought to be Rowling’s final word on the wizarding world.

While it was in some ways the end of an era, the franchise has, thankfully, gone on to expand in a multitude of directions, from the Fantastic Beasts series to new spin-off books to Pottermore to theme parks.

The final movie ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ was released in 2011, with J.K Rowling and the stars of the films appearing in Trafalgar Square in London to greet fans and officially bid farewell to the series. It was here that Rowling uttered her famous, tear-jerking words:

“Whether you come back by page, or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”

But it’s not all over! According to Warner Bros we still have four more Fantastic Beasts movies to look forward to! And with related books continuing to be released, we won’t be letting go just yet!
