‘Mary Poppins’ Sequel is Headed Our Way

The magical, fun-loving, umbrella-wielding nanny is back. Disney is set to develop a sequel to the 1964 film, which will again be a musical. It is yet to be announced who will take Julie Andrews’s much-loved, Oscar-winning role.  According to Nylon, Hollywood’s “go to guy for big-budget, high-profile musicals, [Rob Marshall] has already signed to direct.” Marshall directed Disney’s Into the Woods (2014) film adaptation, which earned $199 Million worldwide. The film will feature an original score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, responsible for the music of the Broadway shows Hairspray and Catch Me If You Can.
