Syfy writer Josh Weiss recently published an article discussing the new House of Dragons updates that have been released to the public—to be specific, we now know four of the actors that have been cast in the series.
This Game of Thrones prequel will take place during the civil war that House Targaryen took part in—the one that came to be known as “The Dance of Dragons,” according to Weiss. The anticipated series is tentatively set to air in 2022, but time will tell if the pandemic or other outlying factors impact its release date.
Now, fans know that Steve Toussaint has been cast as Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best has been cast as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans will play Otto Hightower, Sonoya Mizuno will play Mysaria. These are some great choices for the Game of Thrones prequel. These are four of the more prominent roles in the series, but we will, no doubt, learn about more actors joining the cast in the coming months as well.
In this series, we will get to learn what happened during the Dance of Dragons, and without a doubt, we’ll also get to see some more dragons. And what can beat that?
Leading the cast of House of the Dragon, HBO’s straight-to-series Game of Thrones prequel, is Paddy Considine who will play King Viserys Targaryen. The prequel, from George R. R. Martin, Ryan Condal, and Miguel Sapochnik, is based on Martin’s book Fire and Blood from his series A Song of Ice and Fire.
Considering that it was one of the most popular and successful television shows on the planet, it’s no surprise that HBO would want to make several spinoff shows for Game of Thrones. But one of them isn’t moving forward.
Deadlinereported that the premium network will not be moving forward with the untitled Game of Thrones prequel series starring Naomi Watts. Created by George R.R. Martin, the series would take place thousands of years before the events of the original story and detail the Age of Heroes in Westeros before The Long Night, when The White Walkers invaded and almost destroyed the world. A full pilot was ordered and then shot, but it looks like the pilot is now dead.

There are other Game of Thrones spinoffs still in development, though. This includes a series centered around House Targaryan and their eventual demise, roughly a few hundred years before Games of Thrones. Though a pilot has not been ordered, the project is still in development.
Were you excited for the potential Game of Thrones prequel series?
Are you starved for Game of Thronescontent? Parched, perhaps? Well, until the final season comes out, you can quench your thirst on some new, Game of Thrones themed whiskies! According to Men’s Journal, HBO has teamed up with Johnnie Walker brand Diego to create eight bottles of special-edition whiskey. The first seven correspond to the notable Houses of Game of Thrones, while the last one is an all black version representing the Night’s Watch. HBO has previously teamed up with breweries to make drinks such as ‘Queen of the Seven Kingdoms’ and ‘King of the North’. They even produced a White Walker themed drink, which no doubt has quite the kick to it.

The different whiskies were brewed at different Scottish distilleries, each corresponding to the countries of the GOT’s universe. The aim was to brew the drinks to be as close to the fictional lands they hail from as possible, with the added flair of Scottish character into the mix. The bottles are available now and while we wait for the upcoming new season, you can binge the first seven seasons, with one of these cups in hand. Which bottle would you choose? House Stark? House Targaryen? Let us know in the comments!
