Your Chance to Attend GoT’s Premiere With Emilia Clarke!

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke recently took to Instagram to announce an intriguing opportunity! The winner of an Omaze experience will stand in the presence of Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, rightful Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains at the Game of Thrones season 8 premiere…

Emilia Clarke has partnered with Omaze in order to benefit a new charity, one that helps young adults recover from the impact of major medical trauma. The Charities Aid Foundation of America will distribute all proceeds to any and all organizations working towards that type of relief. The lucky soul who wins this contest will be flown/driven/walked, if you live next door, to a presumably nice AF hotel (with a friend) in New York before attending the season 8 premiere and after-party as Hand of the Queen. Knees will undoubtedly be bent as Iain Glenn (Sir Jorah Mormont) sulks in the corner…

Ha. I love that meme.

The more you donate, the better your chances of winning: ten dollars= 100 entries, twenty-five dollars= 250 entries, and fifty dollars= 1,000 entries. However, I must advise all those who are reading this to proceed with caution, as the winner will have to decide who to take to one of the most anticipated premieres in recent history, this could destroy relationships. I for one have been hit with “Well if you win and don’t take me we’re not _______ (fill in the blank with- friends, siblings, neighbors, grandmother and grandson, etc) anymore.”

The world’s excitement broke the internet, Kardashian style; two days ago the Omaze website crashed. As an apology for the inconvenience, Omaze is now offering an extra 150 entries for any entry when one uses the code BREAKER. Ms. Clarke herself responded to Omaze’s temporary dismantling:

So if you’re like me and regularly have a ridiculous argument with his one friend about who Daenerys Targaryen would hit it off with more (yeah Brandon, I’m talking to you), go be charitable and lose friends over a contest you probably won’t win…because for one thing…

Emilia Clarke Bids an Emotional Farewell to ‘Game of Thrones’

On Monday, Emilia Clarke, who plays a starring role in HBO’s Game of Thrones as Daenerys Targaryen, posted to Instagram with a selfie and an emotional message

“Hopped on a boat to an island to say goodbye to the land that has been my home away from home for almost a decade. It’s been a trip @gameofthrones thank you for the life I never dreamed I’d be able to live and the family I’ll never stop missing </3 #lastseasonitis.”

This heartfelt note suggests that Clarke is done filming her scenes for the upcoming final season of the hit show.

Clarke’s wrapping up does not mean that filming is completely done, but given the importance of her character, it’s a sure sign that they’re getting close. Game of Thrones season eight is expected to air on HBO in 2019.

Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington Finally Up for Lead Actor Emmys

HBO has submitted Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) for lead actor Emmy nominations for their work in season seven of Game of Thrones

While both actors had been submitted for Emmy nominations for supporting roles (Harington in 2016 and Clarke in 2013, 2015, and 2016) neither had been up for a lead actor nomination before.

Typically, with a cast this diverse and expansive, it’s nearly impossible to pin-down what counts as a leading role. So, up until now, HBO has only submitted GoT stars for supporting actor Emmy nominations, making this the first time in history they have ever gone after a lead actor win.

This is big news for the series itself, as we see it shifting into an intense storyline driven by fewer characters and plots.

Game of Thrones beat the record with its sixth season for more Emmys won than any other tv drama in history. But, the only GoT actor who’s ever actually taken home an Emmy for their performance in the series is Peter Dinklage, who took home the supporting actor win in both 2011 and 2015.

Peter Dinklage is going after another supporting role nomination this year, alongside Lena Heady (Cersei Lannister), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister). Diana Rigg (Lady Olenna Tyrell) is up for a guest star nomination, as well.

Game of Thrones characters nominated for best leading actor

The Golden Globes are just around the corner and are set to go ahead on January 7th 2018 and THIS YEAR WE WANT TO SEE GAME OF THRONES WIN GOT DAMMIT.

HBO has thrown a curveball and has submitted not one but two of its leading actors for the category Best Actor in a Leading Role. If you haven’t guessed already yes, it is Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke who have been nominated for their respective roles as Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.

This choice carries some significance as no actor or actress from the show has ever been eligible to compete for a lead role at the ceremony before, and Game of Thrones has actually had bad luck at the award show in the past few years and has been beaten time and time again by shows such as The Crown in 2017, Mr Robot in 2016 and The Affair in 2015.

Although Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington have been given the nod for the supporting actor category in the past, this time we are curious as to whether HBO is freeing up the nomination for best supporting actor for other members of the Game of Thrones ensemble. The choice to move the pair to the lead category may reflect the narrative shift in the show as a series, and perhaps suggests a continuation of this in the forthcoming and most anticipated eighth and final season. Either way, we are super excited to see how the show fairs at the award ceremony, as it has been an outrageously popular summer evening affair that not many people missed out on this season.
