The novel chronicles the fictional lives of musicians in a seventies band. The story is told in an interview style with the musicians in the present, talking about their past experiences being a band, and all the good and bad that went along with it. Keough, played a similar role back in 2010, when she was in the movie The Runaways, a movie based on an all female band in the seventies. Back in 2017 she was even nominated for her role in the first season of The Girlfriend Experience, on Starz. She even made an appearance on the CW show Riverdale.
