Variety reports that star of How I Met Your Mother and A Series of Unfortunate Events Cobie Smulders will lead ABC’s upcoming adaption of the comic book series, Stumptown.
The comic book series won the Eisner Award for Best Limited Series in 2011. It first launched in 2009 with four-issues—and then Oni Press revived Stumptown for five-issues in 2012. In 2014, it became to an ongoing series.

Created by writer Greg Rucka and artist Matthew Southworth, Stumptown follows protagonist Dex Parios (played by Smolders) who resides in Portland, Oregon and an ex-military private investigator with a gambling problem. With a complex past, Dex is uses her sharp intellect to try and solve other people’s problems while running away from her own.
This not Smolders’ first comic book adaptation. She was was an agent of S.H.E.I.L.D. in several of the Marvel movies, starting with 2012’s The Avengers, and is expected to return later this year in both Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home. She also made guest appearances on ABC’s Marvel TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

This will be Smulder’s first regular series role since she portrayed Robin Scherbatsky in How I Met Your Mother which finished its ninth and final season since 2014. Produced by ABC, Stumptown is written and executive produced by Jason Richman. Other executive producers include Greg Rucka, Matthew Southworth, Justin Greenwold, Ruben Fieischer and Dave Bernad.
