You may still be bitter that your Hogwarts letter never arrived (don’t worry, we’re sure it just got lost in the mail…) but please, lay aside your bitterness and wish little Albus Severus Potter, as well as Rose Granger-Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy, good luck on their first day at Hogwarts. According to the books, today is ‘nineteen years later,’ the day that the offspring of the original trio officially start their formal wizarding education.
Although we have already met Albus as the main character in the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, if we adhere to the timeline set out by J.K. Rowling, only now is Albus starting on his adventures which will lead to, among other things, time travelling and an unlikely friendship with one Scorpius Malfoy.

A Facebook event anticipating this date was made years ago, and garnered twenty two thousand ‘attending’ clicks, as well as a further 3 thousand people clicking ‘interested.’
J.K. Rowling herself took to Twitter to acknowledge the monumentous occasion.
