'Pride and Prejudice' Is Getting a Modern TV Adaptation and We're Bewitched
Jane Austen’s novel, Pride and Prejudice, has had a few adaptations for the big screen over the last few years. However, it’s getting a whole new approach as Lifetime takes on the job of adapting the novel for a modern audience. The adaptation is set in modern Atlanta, Georgia and will consist of an all-black cast which includes Jackee Harry, Tiffany Hines, and Keshia Knight Pulliam.

There have been a few changes to the characters and their roles in order to fit into this modern rendition of a true classic. The cast and their roles include Reginald VetJohnson playing Reverend Bennet, who is now a Southern Baptist pastor, and Jackee Harry playing Mrs. Bennet who is the author of a self-help book about finding the perfect husband. Tiffany Hines will be playing Lizzie Bennet who, at first, doesn’t like her suitor. The arrogant Mr. Darcy will be played by Juan Antonio, but, like the novel, Lizzie learns to love him and all his qualities.
Currently, the production is underway and is set to debut on Lifetime in 2019!
