The nonprofit organization Electric Literature, which works to make literature relevant, accessible, and inclusive, has just released a new contest under the hashtag #DressLikeABook.
The contest is simple: dress like the cover of a book, win a free tote bag that says READ MORE WOMEN. An exciting enough prize and a fun enough competition; people from the farthest depths of Instagram have been avidly posting their best book cover attempts.
Here are nine of the best:
Dress like a book cover for Jess today – #TheNaturalWayofThings one of her picks of the year! Looks like our local Constant Reader bookshop love the cover artwork too! Her favourite novel of the year, she says “it reads like a thriller while still being packed to the gills with beautiful language and haunting questions of guilt, innocence, and complicity” Read about the rest of her top choices for gifting over on our blog (link in profile). #CharlotteWood #DressLikeaBook #dresslikeabookcover
Electric Literature is doing a #DressLikeABook competition and to promote #ReadMoreWomen I’ve dressed like the collection of short stories “Bad Behavior” by Mary Gaitskill. Ps. you should subscribe to @electricliterature ‘s recommended reading for a story (a good one) in your inbox every Wednesday! Pps. please read more women.
It’s #FuckFashionFriday because my oldest friend in the world, Sofija Stefanovic (and she is very old), has written a BOOK! ???Miss Ex-Yugoslavia is a collection of funny and sad stories about growing up in Australia while the country we were born in fell apart. Apparently, even though we are the oldest of friends, I didn’t make it into the book, but there is a hilarious story about my mother and her unfortunate encounter with an Ozzie cop. The magnificent memoir is available in the US, Australia and on @amazon. Also, @electricliterature has started a very geeky competition – #DressLikeABook. Dress as your favorite book cover and tag them for a chance to win some lovely stuff. #Literacy #Yellow #ReadABook #MissExYugoslavia #Yugoslavia #Jugoslavija
My very loose interpretation of the Handmaids uniform. . . Currently (re)reading: The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood . . I wanted to reread this before I started the series (I have yet to watch a single episode. I know, I know…). When I first read it, I liked it but didn’t love it, but i was also in one of those reading moods where the words just seemed to wash over me instead of fully absorbing it. Here’s hoping Round 2 fares better ??♀️ . . #thehandmaidstale #margaretatwood #womenwriters #feministliterature #currentlyreading #reread #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookaddict #bookaddicted #bookaholic #bookworm #bibliophile #booklover #booksofinstagram #igreads #igbooks #instareads #instabooks #humpday #red #DressLikeABook
