7 Fear-Inducing Quotes from ‘Divergent’

It’s been about 10 years since the release of Veronica Roth’s bestselling dystopian novel Divergent. While I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate it’s 10th anniversary by having a list of four quotes to go along with.. well.. Four.. I realized that would be a little too short. Now, we’re going along with the number of fears Tris originally had – seven. Which, by the way, who in the world only has four or seven fears? I find about four new things a day to be afraid of. Anyway, to celebrate Divergent‘s 10th anniversary, here are seven powerful and fear-inducing quotes from the novel.

1.”Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.”

2. “We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.”

3. “Fear doesn’t shut you down; it wakes you up.”

4. “A brave man acknowledges the strength of others.”

5. “It’s not about being fearless, it’s about acting in spite of fear.”

6. “Maybe there’s more we all could have done, but we just have to let the guilt remind us to do better the next time.”

7. “One choice. One choice, decided your friends. One choice, defines your beliefs. One choice, determines your loyalties – Forever. One choice can transform you.”
