6 Thoughts We Had While Watching the New Game of Thrones Trailer

As any Game of Thrones fan knows, watching the trailers for the upcoming season can be quite an exhausting experience. Your mind races wondering what they will change (now, how will the books follow or stray from the HBO series?), and what you may miss if you don’t look closely enough. In order to ease some of your pain, we’ve listed six interesting things pulled out of the latest trailer. Some may surprise you, but all will have you itching for the premiere on April 24. What stuck out to you most about the trailer? Tell us in the comments below!

Red Wedding vengeance?

Walder Frey—the reason why you’re hesitant to attend weddings—makes his first appearance since slaughtering beloved characters Catelyn and Robb Stark at the end of Season 3. We sincerely hope that his presence means he’s going to get what’s coming to him this season.

Ser Jorah’s greyscale

Former Daenerys groupie, Ser Jorah Mormont, was infected with greyscale after stone men ambushed him and Tyrion Lannister last season. Greyscale is typically fatal and leaves the skin cracked and flaking. We’ve seen Princess Shireen Baratheon survive greyscale (until her very unfortunate and unrelated death last season), and although Jorah’s greyscale seems to be spreading, we hope he is able to live through it as well.

There’s a new Red Priestess in town

That’s not Melisandre you’re seeing, but in fact a new Red Priestess. The reach of R’hllor (the religion marked by worshipping the Lord of Light) is spreading, and it may play a prominent role in the coming season.

Sansa’s out for revenge

Sansa, who once upon a time dressed up to eat lemon cakes with the king, is now ready to fight. We see Sansa draped in fur and leading like a true warrior. She states in the trailer: “It’s all I think about—what was taken from me,” referencing her rape by Ramsay Bolton in Season 5 and proclaiming her readiness destroy him.

The Zombie Mountain is fighting

While killing Prince Oberyn Martell in Season 4, the Mountain was speared with deadly venom and basically turned into a Frankenstein experiment in order to ‘save’ his life.  After Cersei Lannister’s ‘walk of atonement’ last season we saw the Mountain standing tall as ‘the newest member’ of the Kingsguard, ready to fight all of Tommen’s enemies. In the latest trailer, Cersei says, “Show them what Lannisters are, what we do to our enemies” to King Tommen as a shadowy figure and the mask of who we presume to be the Mountain flashes by. We can expect the Mountain to be fighting many of the Lannister’s battles this season.

Tyrion is still full of wisdom

Tyrion is a jack of many trades, and it appears he’s looking to add ‘dragon whisperer’ to that list. In quotable Tyrion fashion he states, “That’s what I do: I drink, and I know things,” in response to how he knows dragons do not do well in captivity. He then faces a fiery breath from the Daenerys’ dragons in the final scene of the trailer.
