4 Fictional Couples We Want to See Perform ‘Shallow’

Despite the fact that they’re not a real life couple and Bradley Cooper is married, the duet between Cooper and Lady Gaga, stars of the most recent remake of A Star Is Born, was one of the steamiest, most romantic performances… ever?

The duet, during which the pair sang Oscar-winning song Shallow, was performed in character (supposedly), with the pair reprising their roles as Jackson and Ally, and that got us thinking: what other fictional couples could give a killer rendition of this year’s most beloved song?

Okay, this may be too obvious, so we’re getting it out of the way first. Edward sings, Bella is obsessed with Debussy’s Claire de Lune which is a beautiful piano piece, and the lyrics to Shallow suit the pair of them down to the ground:

“Tell me somethin’, girl / Are you happy in this modern world? / Tell me something, boy / Aren’t you tired tryin’ to fill that void?” I mean…

As we all know, Call Me By Your Name was robbed of Best Picture and Best Actor and every other award it didn’t win at last year’s Oscars. The performances were so moving that if they didn’t win over the Academy then nothing was going to sway them, however… Oliver and Elio could give Jackson and Ally a run for their money any day and we think a little rendition of Shallow would have had the Academy calling their names!

Ariel gave up her life in the ocean to pursue Eric, you best believe she’s far from the shallows now… Ariel is also partial to song-singing herself, so I’m sure she could get Eric involved since she’s made so many sacrifices for him. She fought against her family and all odds to be with him, hence

“Crash through the surface, where they can’t hurt us / We’re far from the shallow now” makes perfect sense.
Noah and Allie- The Notebook

Noah and Allie are one of the steamiest and ‘couple-goals’-inspiring unions in all of literature and cinema. Against all odds, they end up together, loving each other till the end. You know they could absolutely kill a rendition of Shallow. After all, “if you’re a bird, I’m a bird…” I’m not crying, you’re crying. Shut up.
