2020: Books To Look Out For

With all that is going on in the world today, it is always nice to have a space for total relaxation. I find that it always best to relax with a new novel. Leaving time for a cup of coffee and no distractions. These five new novels do just that. Empty some space on your bookshelves and fill them with these new thrillers.

Sofia, Bulgaria, not to get confused with Sofia Vergara, is a landlocked city in Southern Europe. Soviet buildings are in shambles, leaving political protesters to flood the streets in song. In this turmoil, an American teacher “navigates a life transformed by the discovery and loss of love.” Preparing to leave his home, the teacher finds that he is unable to get away from the intimate encounters that he has made while abroad. Each reveals insights about what it means to seek connection.

An elderly widow’s life is turned upside down when she finds a cryptic note while on a walk in the woods. After having moved from her longtime home with the death of her husband, she finds herself obsessed with the note, trying to figure out who is the woman that was killed and how she ended up this way. Knowing only a few people, it becomes easy for her to get caught up in the thrill of the chase. Diving headfirst into the mystery, she is faced with the past of her late husband and further explanation that she wasn’t ready for.
