We love to devour books, but we’ve never taken the idea this literally (or literarily) before. Today, we’ve put together a list of the coolest literary cakes we’ve ever seen. If you’re a talented baker, try your hand at replicating one; or, if you’re like us, just enjoy the awesome images.
Atlas Shrugged Cake
Here’s an Ayn Rand cake for your favorite capitalist libertarian! With hard work and dedication you, too, could make an Atlas Shrugged cake. We’re not going to help you, though, because that would be immoral.
This cake is awesome, but we have to admit that it’s a little weird. Does this giant sand worm of Arrakis really look like something you want to eat? Well, if it’s made entirely of icing, we guess we could make an exception.
Fifty Shades of Grey Cake
This kinky cake is inspired by Fifty Shades of Grey. It’s decorated with some appropriate icing accessories, including handcuffs. Perfect for those with an… appetite.
Game of Thrones Cake
This is the most delicious cake in Westeros. By the way, we saw a lot of Game of Thrones cakes when we were researching this piece, and nearly all of them were covered in icing “blood.” You A Song of Ice and Fire fans are a violent bunch.
Harry Potter Cake
As you can probably imagine, there have been a lot of cool Harry Potter cakes made over the years. But in our opinion, nothing tops this one. The awesome 3-D design has it all: the Hogwarts crest, a bunch of main characters, and even a replica of Hogwarts itself.
The Hunger Games Cake
Nobody at the party will go hungry when you bust out this awesome cake. It features the famous Hunger Games logo, along with the saying “may the odds be ever in your favor.” We would definitely need the odds to be in our favor if we tried to replicate this awesome cake. How did they get the icing to be so neat?
Why settle for just one book when you can have a bunch? This cake was the creation of expert baker Kathy Knaus. It’s full of incredible details, and everything in it is edible.
Like Harry Potter fans and Game of Thrones fans, Lord of the Rings fans have made a lot of cool cakes. We like this one because it brings cupcakes to the table, too. Anytime you have extra cake to go with your cake, we approve.
Penguin Classics Cake
The Penguin Classics have a distinct look, one that book lovers recognize right away. This cake celebrates their design and the books themselves. Do you recognize any of the books?
This one is really unique, because it’s not really a cake at all – it’s made up of a bunch of little cupcakes. The cupcake mosaic does an amazing job of capturing Eric Carle’s illustration style. Plus, it looks delicious. We’re feeling Very Hungry ourselves right about now.
