The Halloween season is upon us, and just in time, we are giving away the perfect gory resource for all your spooky aesthetic needs.
The Art of Troma, which showcases all the disturbing, the disgusting, the gooey visuals in the work of Troma Entertainment, is a full-color volume that tells the history of the world’s most fearless film studio, and we have five copies for five lucky gore-fiends. Not only that, but one lucky winner will receive a Toxic Avenger action figure, keychain, BluRay Disc of Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, DVDs of Class of Nuke’em High, The Toxic Avenger, and Tromeo and Juliet, as well as an awesome Troma t-shirt, and the soundtrack to War on vinyl.
The photographs and prints included in the book were all created under the direction of Troma’s co-founders, Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz. These two are responsible for the studio’s legacy of unabashedly shocking movies, which have sustained Troma to the point that it is now the world’s longest running independent film studio.
While the studio was founded in 1974, it takes inspiration from the great B-movies of the 1950s. With Troma, Kaufman and Herz have established a safe haven for films targeted by censorship. Nothing goes too far to be included in the Troma family of titles, which include Cannibal! The Musical, Blood Junkie, Surf Nazis Must Die, Killer Condom, and Mother’s Day. All of their films have provoked significant responses from fans of horror, but the crown jewel of their oeuvre is the Toxic Avenger franchise, which has been spun into several sequels, an animated series, a musical, and a remake of the original movie, which is currently in development. To honor their rejection of censorship, the company adopted the slogan, “40 years of Disrupting Media” in 2014.
Entrance in this contest will give you a chance to take home a copy of the deluxe edition of this book, which includes a Fan Art of Troma booklet, and a signed Toxic Avenger print signed by the legend himself, Lloyd Kaufman! this book is a must-have for not only fans of Troma, but for anyone who professes themselves to be a horror aficionado. Be sure to get your entry in quickly!
