Jude Law Finally Comments on Dumbledore's Sexuality

"Your sexuality doesn’t necessarily define you; he’s multifaceted"

Fan favorite Jude Law is portraying wizard extraordinaire Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel The Crimes of GrindelwaldEW recently sat down with the acclaimed actor where he revealed that he point blank asked J.K. Rowling about the future headmaster's sexuality. She responded that yes, Dumbledore is gay, a fact she has been repeating for more than a decade now. But that doesn't stop fans from acting like, well, fans.

The film's director had, in an earlier interview, courted some controversy when he admitted that Dumbledore's sexuality wasn't exactly a plot point in Crimes. Fans will be even more disappointed to learn that apparently Law and Johnny Depp, who is playing the titular Gellert Grindelwald, do not even share any scenes. In the backstory of the books, Dumbledore and Grindelwald shared a very close friendship

Whatever the case, Law intends to portray young Albus as a complex individual. "But as with humans, your sexuality doesn’t necessarily define you; he’s multifaceted," he said, explaining that this was just one of at least four more planned Fantastic Beasts films and we are just beginning to meet the young version of Dumbledore. As with anyone, we'll certainly learn more about the man as more details emerge from these films.
