Books of Wonder, the beloved children’s bookstore in Manhattan, is closing their Upper West Side Location at the end of June, and it’s having a clearance sale.
Hi friends, some news: we’ll be closing our W84th St store at the end of June.
We hope to reopen in a new home on the UWS soon, but for now we’d like to thank you with a store clearance sale! Come visit us before we go ❤️📚

The closing of the store was announced to customers via email and through social media, but they also communicated that they are actively looking for a new location on the UWS. The store was affected by the changing real estate environment in the area since a lot of neighboring buildings were demolished in the past year and the lack of retail in that zone affected Books of Wonder.
According to Publishers Weekly, Peter Glassman, the owner of the store, said, “We love the Upper West Side and hope to continue being a part of the supportive and welcoming community that has been so wonderful over the past years.”
The flagship Books of Wonder location in West 17th Street will be unaffected by the closing of the UWS location. From now until the store closes, they will be offering books at a 20% discount.
