If you live in Los Angeles and love Beauty and the Beast, then you’re in luck. Zooey Deschanel and Taye Diggs will be appearing in a live action performance of the musical – kind of.
On Friday, May 25th and Saturday, May 26th, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles will be screening the original animated movie, while a full orchestra and an all-star cast perform the songs, live, in front of your very eyes. Deschanel will be starring as Belle, with Taye Diggs capturing Gaston’s masculine essence.
The cast doesn’t stop there – Kelsey Grammar will act as Lumiere, Rebel Wilson as LeFou, Jane Krakowski as Mrs. Potts, and Anthony Evans as the Beast.
This isn’t the first of these kind of performances, The Little Mermaid took to the stage and screen two years ago. Richard Kraft, the producer of that show, will be returning to put on this summer’s production.
“The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl was an amazing and unforgettable event,” said legendary Disney composer Alan Menken. “Now Beauty and the Beast at the Bowl is coming, with an extraordinary cast and a world class orchestra. I am beyond excited to be a part of what will be another fantastic evening.”
The evening promises “breathtaking living scenery” projected onto the iconic Hollywood Bowl location to completely immerse the audience into the Beauty and the Beast experience.
