Have you ever read a book that straight-up shocked you? Maybe there was a huge twist, like a main character dying (AHEM- Game of Thrones). Maybe the content was what shocked you (think Lolita and A Clockwork Orange). Or perhaps the brief synopsis on the book of the book was way misleading.

For example, I found The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón to be shocking because it was overtly sexist, using women as props and thematic ploys rather than fleshing them out and having them be more than helpless and romantic. It may not have been the most shocking book I’ve ever read, but it is certainly up there.
Regardless of how it shocked you, we want to know what the most shocking book you’ve ever read was, and why! We are planning to compile a list of shocking books that our readers suggested, so we may directly quote you. How exciting!
