Tomorrow, the Man Booker Prize for literature will be announced! Anticipation is high considering the outstanding books that have made it to the shortlist. Not only are the books fantastic, the shortlist is also a well-balanced list. There are three men and three women from three different countries. Three of the books are historical while the other three are contemporary.
The shortlist has been influenced by the growing number of international readers. The Guardian reported that, “More readers worldwide are consuming new fiction in English than ever before, and Booker is now in a position to reward it.” By rewarding these authors, Man Booker is encouraging more diversity in literature which is exactly what we need.
So, who do you think will win?
The Sellout by Paul Beatty
Hot Milk by Deborah Levy
His Bloody Project by Graeme Macrae Burnet
Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh
All That Man Is by David Szalay
Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Madeleine Thien
