Veronica Roth‘s popular dystopian YA book series, Divergent, has been in the cinematic fast lane. Last year saw the release of the first adaptation, Divergent, and earlier this year the sequel Insurgent continued the action. Now, audiences can get their first look at the next installment in the thrilling franchise: Allegiant.
The trailer does a short recap of the first two films, before diving into action and drama when Tris (Shailene Woodley) and her crew explore the boundaries of their world, scaling an enormous wall that inevitably hides dark secrets. In keeping with the trend of the past two films’ March releases, the Allegiant trailer ends informing viewers that the movie will debut in theaters next March.
Despite the book series being a trilogy, the Divergent movies won’t end on number three. Following the standard set by Harry Potter and The Hunger Games, Allegiant will only cover the first half of Roth’s final novel. The final chapter in the film series, titled Ascendant, is set to release in March 2017.
