Disney has released a new clip from the upcoming live-action version of The Jungle Book. The one-minute clip is called “Intro to Shere Khan.” Check it out below!
In the clip, we meet the story’s tiger antagonist, Shere Khan. Khan, voiced by British actor Idris Elba (The Wire, Luther), is distrustful of humans – which is bad news for human boy Mowgli (Neel Sethi). Mowgli is protected by Akela, who is voiced by Giancarlo Esposito (Once Upon a Time).
The Jungle Book is an adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling book of the same name, as well as a re-make of the prior animated adaptation, which Disney released in 1967. The project is the latest in a string of live-action remakes from Disney. Among other films, Disney has already re-made Cinderella and is working on a live-action version of The Sword in the Stone.
The new one-minute Jungle Book clip is our latest look at the live-action epic, but we’ve gotten some glimpses before, including teasers and full-length trailers. The Jungle Book will arrive in theaters in just a few weeks. It’s scheduled for an April 15 release, and will hit theaters in both 3-D and 2-D forms.
