A day after its initial release, Wandavision, one of the most highly anticipated MCU TV shows playing exclusively on Disney+, has become their highest-ranked TV show/movie. It is the first Disney+ show that is set in the MCU with three others to follow later this year: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and What If…?
Wandavision follows the main heroes from the Avengers who parody old sitcoms from the 1950’s such as Leave it to Beaver, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, and I Love Lucy. But unlike those sitcoms, and straying away from the traditional MCU blueprint, there are interludes of a darker entity lurking within the wholesome suburbs, adding a new layer of eccentricity for the MCU following Avengers: Endgame.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Wandavision has gained ninety-seven percent approval rates from critics and an eighty-five percent approval rate from their audience, which surpasses some of their most well-received and highly acclaimed films.
This is Phase 4 for the MCU. A new era providing a strong shift from the original foundation that began with Iron Man. By doing this, the MCU will be able to maintain its presence within each generation, follow current issues, trends, and have new ways to reach a wider range of fans.
