On August 2nd, Sony Pictures dropped a new lengthy trailer for the highly anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Venom 2, another victim of the delays a film planned to release last year, has sparingly released promotional content since it first started filming in late 2019. With theaters opening once more and a release date planned Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be a bloody good time.
The film is set one year after Eddie Brock/Venom stopped the remaining symbiotes from escaping earth for reinforcements. Eddie tries to set boundaries with Venom on his carnivorous vigilante activities that seem more born of being a predator than anything. Simultaneously, Eddie attempts to jump-start his failed career as an investigative journalist by interviewing the soon-to-be-executed serial killer Cletus Kassidy (brilliantly played by Woody Harrelson). The interview goes sour as Cletus bites Eddie consuming some of his symbiote-laced blood soon turning him into the crimson killer Carnage. From then on all hell breaks loose.
The film, directed by Gollum himself, Andy Serkis comes to a more mature story than the 2018 predecessor. Given the fan-favorite Carnage and the context behind his existence, it’s a safe assumption that Venom 2 will definitely push the limits on its surprising PG-13 rating. The movie will star Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, and of course, the perfectly cast Woody Harrelson. With the positive reception of the first entry and the promise of more symbiote action to come Venom 2 will be a welcome addition to Spider-Man fans and casuals alike when it hits theaters and streaming services on September 24th, 2021.
