Trailer Round Up: Book Adaptations From Comic Con

Another San Diego Comic Con has come and gone, and in its wake are troves of trailers for book lovers! There are adaptations of both comics and regular old books on their way to the big and small screens.

Here are some of the biggest trailers released this weekend based on the books we love.

“Outlander” Season 3 (coming September 10, 2017 on Starz)

via YouTube

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series of the same name, this show’s got time travel, and has been a steady critical success for Starz. The third season starts this fall.

“The Walking Dead” Season 8 (coming October 22, 2017)

via YouTube

Please, AMC, we need a little more time away from Negan. Please? Okay, fine. We’ll watch.

“Thor: Ragnarok” (coming November 3, 2017)

via YouTube

Combining elements of Norse mythology, and Greg Pak’s classic “Planet Hulk” run, the new “Thor” film features Chris Hemsworth sporting a short haircut, and an absolutely insane color palette. The tone looks very funny, which is no surprise considering it’s directed by frequent “Flight of the Conchords” collaborator, Taika Waititi.

“Justice League” (coming November 17, 2017)

via YouTube

Though the first two films from DC’s movie universe were met with less-than-stellar critical reviews, this summer’s “Wonder Woman” shattered all sorts of records. Riding that success, Warner Bros. released a 4 minute (FOUR MINUTE!) trailer of their upcoming superhero team-up.

“Ready Player One” (coming March 30, 2018)

via YouTube

Based on Ernest Cline’s novel of the same name, “Ready Player One” is directed by Steven Spielberg. It’s hard to put this trailer into words, so just watch it, let it stew, and realize that, yes, you just saw the Iron Giant.
