Rudyard Kipling’s classic story, The Jungle Book, has already been turned into a beloved Disney animated movie featuring the jungle-loving human boy, Mowgli the Man Cub. Now, actor, director, and producer Jon Favreau has chosen to revitalize the tale in a live-action version starring some big name actors, including Scarlett Johansson as ‘Kaa,’ Bill Murray as ‘Baloo,’ Ben Kingsley as ‘Bagheera,’ Idris Elba as ‘Shere Khan,’ Lupita Nyong’o as ‘Raksha,’ Giancarlo Esposito as ‘Akela,’ and Christopher Walken as ‘King Louie.’
This all-star cast will be providing their vivacious voices to Kipling’s computer generated characters, while newcomer Neel Sethi will be the only actor seen on screen. On finding the right actor to play Mowgli, Favreau has stated that “Neel has tremendous talent and charisma. There is a lot riding on his little shoulders and I’m confident he can handle it,” according to The Independent.

The teaser trailer provides an exciting glimpse into the lush jungle which the characters inhabit. With the dramatic setting and epic music, the teaser suggests that the tone will differ from the playful 1967 animated Disney film. Favreau has also implied that there will be more mythical elements to the film. The Jungle Book will be released in US theaters on April 15, 2016.
And now, for the impassioned new trailer:
