Friday night goals: a good book and a solid wine buzz. Like peanut butter and jelly, Mary-Kate and Ashley, or margaritas and salt, the duo is a natural. And like us, you’ve been waiting for Friday since Monday. Thankfully, Librottiglia is here to help. The Italian wine company, whose name is a slur of the Italian words for ‘book’ and ‘bottle’, has taken the brand name pretty seriously, recently introducing wine bottles that come wrapped in short stories. And get this, each story was made to complement the characteristics of the wine.
Check it out.
Setting aside the fear that this opens sommeliers up to an entirely new vocabulary of pretentious jargon, we’re pretty excited about the pairing!
Sounds great, right? The only problem is that each story, written specifically for the Matteo Correggia winery in Italy, is written in the native tongue. However, we’re hopeful that it won’t be long before other companies catch on, or Librottiglia extends their idea to English, French, and Spanish wine markets among others. If you happen to read Italian, you’re in luck. So far the stories include a fable titled “The Frog in the Belly”, the red wine pairing, “I Love You. Forget Me”, and the complement to lovely sharp white, a comical murder mystery titled “The Murder”.
For the rest of us, we’ll just have to go on holding a book in one hand and a glass of red (or white) in the other. What do you think of the idea? Share it with us in the comments!
