It seems like if you wish hard enough for something, it comes true. This goes for all you nostalgic folks out there. Those who can recall trick-or-treating or attending your school’s Halloween party only to come home, divide up your sweets, and watch Hocus Pocus all night. Nothing was as exciting on Halloween, I will fight you on that one. Now, if you can’t get enough Winifred, Mary, and Sarah or you need an excuse to obnoxiously squeal ‘sistahs!’ then keep reading.

Nerdist has reported that good old Disney has blessed us with an official Hocus Pocus sequel… in book form! Fans of the 1993 classic have been pining for a sequel and it seems that with each passing year, its popularity grows. Through Oh My Disney, Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel by A.W. Jantha is going to be a twist from the original film. Fast-forward twenty-five years and Max and Allison are married with a teenaged daughter named Poppy. When did this happen?! Since they’re still in Salem, it’s now Poppy’s turn to fight the Sanderson sisters. I guess they weren’t completely turned to stone?
This two-part book will first give an updated retelling then lead into the sequel and the later life of all the characters. I’m going to say that includes a grown-up Dani as well, which makes me feel old as heck. Despite her adulthood I’m hoping she still hasn’t lost her humor (“Max likes your yabbos. In fact, he loves ‘em”). All this lovely news comes after the announcement of a Hocus Pocus TV movie remake. It got mixed reviews from fans, but I think the books will (literally) create a new chapter for our beloved characters.
The sequel comes out at the perfect time on July 10th, right around the movie’s twenty-fifth anniversary. We still don’t know much about the TV movie remake, but Hocus Pocus in adult and book form just may be the magic we need.
