The Obamas will be producing an adaptation of Michael Lewis’s newest release, The Fifth Risk. The book describes the chaos that erupted at the departments of Energy, Agriculture, and Commerce during the handoff between the Obama administration and the Trump administration.
The Obamas announced their partnership with Netflix back in May and established “Higher Ground Productions.” The production company will create content that highlights issues and themes the former president pursued during his eight years in office.

“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” Mr. Obama said in a statement shared by The New York Times. “That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix — we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”
With The Fifth Risk their intention is to create a series that helps people better understand how the government actually works. The adaptation sets the tone for the kind of content the Obamas will be presenting over the course of their multiyear deal with Netflix.
