‘The Last of Us’ Series Casts Two Veteran ‘Game of Thrones’ Stars

It’s a Game of Thrones reunion for the upcoming HBO series The Last of Us, an adaptation of the popular video game. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will be headlining the new series as Joel and Ellie, respectively.

The series is expected to cover the events of the first game with some elements of its sequel. The game follows smuggler Joel (Pascal) who is tasked with leading a teenage girl, Ellie (Ramsey), across a post-apocalyptic version of the United States.

Neither actor is new to HBO as both Pascal and Ramsey played fan-favorite characters in the hit series Game of Thrones. Pascal starred as the Red Viper Oberyn Martell before his… shall we say… memorable death while Ramsey played the fierce head of House Mormont, Lyanna Mormont.

This adaptation has been in the works for a while now with previous talks of a film adaptation for the game before HBO announced a television series in March of 2020. The series will be written and executive produced by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Bruckmann with Naughty Dog president Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carolyn Strauss, and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions producing as well.
