Every panel feels intentional, rich with color and detail, especially when both dragons appear together on the page. SubZero combines everything I love in romantasy — marriage of convenience, palpable tension, and intricate worldbuilding — with the bonus of jaw-dropping art that brings it all to life. If you’re a fan of Lore Olympus or love your romance with a side of epic fantasy flair, this one deserves a spot on your shelf.
Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent
Six roses. Six vials of blood. Six visits to a vampire who might be her salvation — or her undoing. Set in the same world as The Serpent and the Wings of Night (but completely readable on its own), Six Scorched Roses follows Lilith, a dying woman who makes a desperate bargain with a vampire named Vale to save her plague-stricken town.
What begins as a simple exchange slowly transforms into something tender, aching, and unforgettable. It’s a hauntingly beautiful novella about love blooming in impossible places and easily my favorite novella ever. If you crave quiet yearning, poetic writing, and a love story that hurts just right, this one’s for you.
The Mafia Nanny by SH00, Violet Matter, and Rouusuu
Equal parts suspense, comedy, and slow-burn romance, The Mafia Nanny is one of my absolute favorite WEBTOON comics. The story follows Davina, a top graduate of the Elite Nanny Academy, whose first assignment is to protect Mikey, the young son of the Venetian mafia underboss, Gabriel Angelini. Her job should be simple: keep the child safe, follow the rules, and don’t get attached.
But between the danger, the secrets, and Gabriel’s maddeningly magnetic presence, that last rule doesn’t stand a chance. The art is fantastic, the pacing addictive, and the chemistry between Davina and Gabriel builds so slowly you’ll find yourself clinging to every tiny spark. Whether you’re in the mood for a romance that blends danger and laughter or you simply can’t resist a perfectly executed slow burn, The Mafia Nanny delivers it all.
Shutout by Avery Keelan
What started as an indie romance favorite is now getting a well-deserved traditional release — and I couldn’t be more excited. Shutout is a college hockey romance that has everything: forced proximity, secret hookups, and a broody, tattooed goalie who’s utterly obsessed with the girl he can’t have. When a spontaneous Halloween hookup turns into an awkward roommate situation, the tension between Tyler and Seraphina is immediate and undeniable.
Their chemistry jumps off the page, blending all the best tropes — roommates, brother’s best friend (and teammate), sneaking around — into an emotionally charged slow burn. It’s steamy, sweet, and full of ADHD and anxiety rep that adds even more depth to both leads. Honestly, I love when the main characters are just vehemently obsessed with each other — and this one delivers!
Whether you’re in the mood for an emotional fantasy, a swoony sports romance, or a webtoon that will completely take over your life, these are the books I can’t stop recommending. They may not dominate BookTok or fill your For You Page, but that’s part of what makes them special — they’re quietly brilliant, the kind of stories that sneak under the radar and steal your heart.
