Thrilling announcement: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is coming to California’s Universal Studios Hollywood on April 7! While we all wait in anticipation for this magical and mysterious theme park to open, Entertainment Weekly got a sneak peek and has graciously revealed 30 photos of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Perhaps EW was not being so kind, as they have only tempted us further. The wait is truly agonizing for us Harry Potter lovers! In the meantime, we can delight in these 2D pictures of Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, and a variety of wizarding landmarks.
Alan Gilmore, the supervising art director for the Harry Potter films, gave insight to the park’s wonders. “It’s the most authentic rendition that could be done,” proclaimed Gilmore.
Gilmore worked with the production designer for the Harry Potter films, Stuart Craig, to ensure that the Wizarding World resembled the Harry Potter film sets as closely as possible, down to the Gringotts ATM.
Furthermore, “There’s no electricity…It’s all gas lighting, oil lighting,” says Gilmore.
Check out the inside of Three Broomsticks, where the stairs lead to an inn for wizards.
And, of course, the iconic, difficult to use, Enchanted Car owned by the Weasleys. It has seen better days…
If only Snape could be found in this Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom…
Or Hagrid and his dangerous pets in his cozy hut.
Just hop on the Hogwarts Express and we’ll see you in California!
