Sylvia Plath‘s only novel, The Bell Jar, is being turned into another movie. A previous adaptation was released in 1979, but did not do as well as we expect this one to. Published in 1963, right before her death, The Bell Jar has been posthumously acclaimed.

The Bell Jar follows protagonist, Esther Greenwood, and her struggle with a mental breakdown. Plath struggled with depression herself, and eventually committed suicide. This film will mark Kirsten Dunst’t directorial debut and will star Dakota Fanning playing Esther Greenwood and Jesse Plemmons as a character named Lenny Shepherd.
The Bell Jar is set to release in 2017.
