Stephenie Meyer’s New ‘Twilight’ Reverses Gender

Twilight writer Stephenie Meyer just unveiled a big surprise for fans- a new book in the Twilight series. However, this isn’t a continuation of the famous series, it’s a spinoff that retells the original story from an alternate universe. Instead of Bella and Edward, this book’s about Beau and Edythe.

The book, titled “Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined,” launched today to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original novel. An anniversary edition of Twilight was announced last month with mystery “bonus features,” and this is certainly one of them.

“I wanted to do something fun for the 10th anniversary and the publisher wanted like a foreword and I thought, ‘Well, maybe something more interesting,’” Meyer said on Good Morning America.

With this idea, Meyer could have just written a short story detailing what might be different. Instead, Meyer took the idea and ran with it, writing a full-blown 422-page novel. It’s now available with the Twilight 10th Anniversary Edition (and wittily features a green apple on the cover.)
